American Oral English

Preface

This program is designed for learners whose English level is close to Band 4 and aimed at the level of Band 6. I suppose that whoever is interested in this program find a partner for yourself to practice (via QQ or YY or whatever you can use) the dialogues pasted here every other weekday.

  Now, please listen and dictate.

Unit 01-2

Conversation 1: Bumping Into Each Other

Reference Text for Unit 01-2

Conversation 1: Bumping Into Each Other

---Good morning, Sue.
---Good morning, Tom. How are you?
---I'm fine, thanks. How about yourself?
---Things couldn't be better. Where are you going now?
---I am heading for the library. I've got a research project to do. How about you?
 (head for 向特定的方向出发=go to ...)
---I'm going to the English class. It'll start in five minutes, I've got to run.
---See you later, Alligator.
---After a while, Crocodile.

  Thank you for your time.

Thanks.Teacher. I  would like to ask a question. Is "Alligator" & Crocodile is a pet name for the close friend?
    ---See you later, Alligator.
    ---After a while, Crocodile.
As their names are Sue & Tom.

I suppose they must be their nicknames. It's clear that the two speakers are teasing each other.
